The Autism Networks Resource Centre has occupied the former Old Railway Veteran’s institute since 2006 and is a large building with two floors. Within the building it comprises of a ground Floor (4,247 sq. ft) and a first floor (662 sq. ft.) The first floor is now used for storage use only and this provides space to secure equipment away from harm. The lower floor we have changed (over the years) and have created two sensory rooms, a games / arts craft area, kitchen, café , Disco / karaoke area, complete with adult size bouncy castle , social tv area, social skills area and a parent’s / training lounge.
Our social groups for individuals affected by an autistic spectrum disorder are within a large relaxing space. The social area for individuals and their families to meet and socialise in a supportive atmosphere.

We do run groups that get together regularly and provides service users with opportunities to meet new people and have new experiences. The sessions are facilitated by volunteers, with members deciding what activities they want to try.
They’re a great way for people to build confidence, make friends and help with communication skills. It’s also a way for volunteers to provide tips on staying healthy and helping people to support each other.
It is free to join, the groups are open to autistic people and families wherever you are. There are groups representing different geographical areas, young people, parents, girls women, men, as well as particular interest groups such as ‘Film’ and ‘Quiz’.
